Durrell Lamar & Ashley Eady Smith

Durrell Lamar, a 36-year-old Atlanta native, is a visual and fine artist whose creative journey has come full circle—now enriched by years spent in the field as an outdoor writer, Orvis-Endorsed Wingshooting Guide, and conservationist. With a Master of Arts in Art Education, Durrell’s creative focus draws deeply from his outdoor pursuits and the rhythms of Southern life that inspire his guitar playing, songwriting, and storytelling. As founder of The Sporting Life Notebook, co-founder and president of the Minority Outdoor Alliance, alongside his wife, Ashley— he creates work that marries the lyricisms of urban and natural spaces. His art continues to celebrate the enduring interplay between culture, history, mark making, and the landscapes that he travels.

Ashley Eady Smith is an accomplished public speaker, CEO of the Minority Outdoor Alliance, and a leading voice in fostering inclusivity within conservation and outdoor recreation. With a background in journalism, Spanish, and law, she has worked with state and federal agencies, conservation organizations, and corporations nationwide to build partnerships, design outreach strategies, and craft relevant, engaging programming. Ashley has facilitated group cohesion workshops, authored strategic and national plans, and hosted large-scale outdoor events that connect diverse communities to nature. Her leadership at American Soil | American Soul reflects her passion for storytelling, cultural heritage, and creating spaces where art, identity, and the outdoors intersect.
